The Fairey Albacore was built for the British Royal Air Force during the second world war by Fairey Aviation from 1939 to 1943. The Alabacore was a three man carrier-borne reconnaissance dive torpedo bombing bi-plane. The plane was used to disrupt shiping in the British Channel and to attack harbor instillations. Though conceived as a replacement for the Swordfish, the Albacore would be retired by the Royal Airforce before the model it was built to replace. The Canadian Air Force would latter use the craft for the Normandy Invassion, and in similiar operations until 1944.
