The Grumman F7F Tigercat was the first twin-engined aircraft to enter service with the United States Navy. The craft was designed for use aboard Midway Class carriers, thus they were larger then other craft of the time. Though issued to the United States Marine Corps prior to the end of World War II the craft would not see action until the Korean War.
