The Shimakaze was a super destoryer built for the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1942. She was armed with duel purpose guns, anti-submarine weaponry, in addition to fifteen torpedoe tubes armed with the deadly long lance torpedoe. At the time she was one of the fastest ships in the world thanks to her experemental Steam Turbine. The IJN had plans to create the Super Shimakaze Class by mass producing her designs however, such plans were cancelled after the IJN's defeat at Midway.
